History:
Renaissance Recreation is the primary designer/developer of the My MTN Life.com website. This is the first project that was stared out of a 1 bed room 1800’s storefront/apartment in Empire, Colorado. This is where a dream of a community to improve backcountry safety was born as the Avytracker.com project. This was the original concept of the avalanche tracking/sharing/social networking site. The site then partnered with Mountain Riders Alliance. Under this partnership the site became www.My Skimunity.com, a ski community social networking site that has advanced social networking and sharing features with a special focus on backcountry safety. This was functional but was destine for failure because of both stigma of “skiing” and narrow focus of sole partnerships. This is what lead to a refocusing of the project to broaden the appeal and portray the intent of the site, which is to become the number one resource and database of everything mountain towns, My MTN Life. We have not abandoned the My Skimunity concept though. We will be creating a menu option under the community’s section, so people who love skiing, boarding, sledding, sliding, and falling can unite with our partner Mountain Riders Alliance to create AMAZING community operated Co-Op’s and use a host of services through the My MTN Life site as a partner.
Future Plans:
By providing different services to the users and community businesses for FREE and minimal fees on a annual subscription basis the project will be self funding allowing it to expand and improve the user experience and capabilities. In the near future, we are also hoping to crowd source enough money to purchase, develop, and expand the Avalanche Lab platform and promote it as a FREE and minimal fee service to attract users to the site and promote the companies passion of safe backcountry recreation.
